Adventurous and Exciting

Dave & Buster’s

If you are both into baseball, going to a baseball game on a date should definitely be on your bucket list. You guys can wear matching Jerseys, share expensive hot dogs and pretzels, and cheer on your favorite team.

Chelsea Piers

Chelsea Piers is definitely no cheap date, but if you are celebrating an anniversary or want to do something special, you should definitely set aside one weekend to splurge on some fun activities with your loved one. There’s so much for you to choose from: rock climbing, ice skating, golf, bowling, and much more.

Location: 23rd Street & Hudson River Park, 62 Chelsea Piers, New York, NY 10011

Fitness Classes

While jogging, running, or going to the gym can also double as a date, you and your fitness buddy can try something new by attending a fitness class for: Zumba, Pilates, Spin Cycle, etc. You know what they say – the couple who works out together, stays together.

Become a Tourist

Even though New Yorkers are surrounded by plenty of history, culture, and new experiences, many of us don’t enjoy it enough! Therefore, if you are racking your brain on what to do in the city that never sleeps, pretend to be a tourist for one day and hit any of the New York tourist areas you have never been to such as:

  • Times Square
  • Statue of Liberty
  • The High line
  • Empire State Building
  • New York Hall of Science
  • Williamsburg Bridge

You can also collect souvenirs at the tourist places you stop at.

Coney Island

Coney Island could be a hit or miss to visit because of all the children, crowds, and hot weather. But if you want to experience a traditional, nostalgic kind of date, an amusement park is the way to go. What can be better than going on some rides in Luna Park, riding the Cyclone, eating Nathan’s Famous hot dogs, and taking a walk by the beach?

Location: Luna Park in Coney Island, 1000 Surf Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11224

Play Pool

A relaxing – and not so relaxing – game activity you can try out is billiards or pool. Get close and set your bets to play an exciting game of pool with your significant other or a group of friends. Amsterdam Billiards is a great cozy place to play, but you can find cheaper prices in Flushing.

Amsterdam Billiards Location: 110 E 11th Street at 4th Ave

Book Date

For book-lovers, having a quiet date at The Strand, a Barnes & Noble store, or another small independent book store is a great way to wind down, read your favorite books, and get to know each other. On your book date, you guys can select your favorite childhood books, go on a book scavenger hunt, and read your favorite books side-by-side in a book cafe or in the aisles.

The Strand Location: 828 Broadway, New York, NY 10003

Afternoon Tea

Having a tea party with your significant other can definitely be a fun but relaxing experience! If you love trying new teas, scrumptious sandwiches, and fluffy scones, check out booking a tea party experience, like at Alice’s Tea Cup.

Coffee Shop

If you are in a long-term relationship, you can always go back to the basics of going on a simple coffee date. Choose a coffee or dessert shop, like Grace Street Coffee & Desserts, and enjoy your time together for several hours talking and sipping on coffee.

Grace Street Coffee & Desserts Location: 17 W 32nd St, Manhattan, New York, 10001

I know shopping can be a nightmare or hectic to some, but you can also have a peaceful shopping experience. Take the time to do some window shopping or purchase a new outfit for another date. You can look up vintage thrift stores, new malls, or even go out of the city to Woodbury Commons.

What is better than basking in the warm sun, sitting on grass, drinking wine and eating cheese and fruit? Having a picnic date in Central Park, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park, or Strawberry Fields is a great way to have a slow and relaxing date and be immersed in nature.

Food, Wine, & Brewery Tour

Eat and drink to your hearts content by going on a food or wine tour with a lover, friend, or a group of friends or family members. You’ll be able to try new foods and drinks you may never get to try on your own.

Or, you can research different food halls throughout the city like Chelsea Market, Essex Market, Smorgasburg, and more where you can spend hours eating new kinds of foods.

Cat Cafes

Do you love cats? Do you love coffee? Mix the two together and you can visit a Cat Cafe. In a Cat Cafe, there is a separate – usually blocked off – area where you can purchase desserts, pastries, and a cup of coffee. In another room or area usually blocked off by a glass wall are the cattery areas where the cats live. Here, you spend a certain amount of money to spend time with the cats for half an hour to an hour.

And at the end of it all, you can gift each other with your own painting! There are many Paint and Sip class opportunities in New York City for you to try.

Painting pottery can be a little simpler than painting a whole canvas. Painting pottery is a great date idea because you can sit for hours and talk and paint, and you can choose a type of pottery to gift to your significant other at the end! Book your next experience at one of the many locations of Color Me Mine.

Comedy Show

To let loose and laugh, try attending a Comedy Show in the city where you and your significant other can find new comedians, meet other people, and have a good time. And if you really want to see a good comedy show, try your luck in August to obtain tickets to SNL. That would be the ultimate comedy date.

Lincoln Center Show

Lincoln Center is full of culture – dance, music, opera, and theater shows. If you and your loved one are into any of the fine arts, check out upcoming events to see Opera shows, music performances, ballet dances, and more.

In addition, you don’t have to limit yourself to the theaters, beforehand or afterwards you can grab a bite to eat, do some shopping, or sit down in one of the park benches or on the grass.

Museum Date

A more affordable way to appreciate the fine arts is to visit one of the many diverse museums in New York City. Together, you can discover new art at the New Museum, learn about the history of NYC at the Museum of the City of New York, or become elementary-school kids again at the American Museum of Natural History. You can check out these other museum ideas for future dates.

New York Botanical Garden

If you both aren’t allergic to grass, pollen, and flowers, visit the New York Botanical Garden, a living museum full of flowers and plants. Walk through and smell the various kinds of flowers and plants outside on your walks, learn about plant research and conversation, and even try your hand at painting flowers. The Botanical Garden can be a beautiful and serene date experience.
